A Case Study: WORQ Group
WORQ required premises licences for two very different hotels in their portfolio. The first was for Revolver Hotel which offers a mix of accommodation styles, from king size rooms to group rooms & serviced apartments. The second was for Boutique 50, a hidden gem situated in Glasgow’s West End boasting ten individually designed contemporary bedrooms.
The aim was to work with WORQ’s team of architects, interior designers & operations team to draft, lodge & pursue premises licences for both hotels. Due to the very different style of each hotel, the licence applications had to be tailored for their specific customer needs and location.
We identified the key requirements for each property & created a bespoke operating plan to meet those individual needs. Utilising our network of key stakeholders we facilitated dialogue between the client’s architects / interior designers and relevant council departments to ensure there would be no unforeseen issues. Upon receipt of objections from neighbours urgent, on site, meetings were conducted and a proactive resolution was agreed to address and assuage any concerns.
“Niall helped us navigate the licensing process at both properties by seamlessly working with our architects, designers and operations team.
Boutique 50’s location saw it attract ten neighbour objections all concerned that a licence would change the essence of the property. Niall’s experience helped diffuse and ultimately resolve the situation. We addressed the neighbours’ concerns at the licensing hearing when Niall proposed a specific condition on the licence.
The licence was granted and we maintained our really positive relationship with our neighbours – both elements were key for our business.”
